California Native Grasses, Rushes, Reeds & Sedges

The use of grass and grass like plant material can add a variety of colors and textures and can soften landscape settings.  Ornamental and native grasses can be used to create a dry streambed, a meadow effect, or simply add upright structure in narrow areas.  With the numerous forms and textures of grasses, there is a grass that will work in almost any landscape setting.  For example, Juncus patens has deep gray foliage with a stiff upright habit, whereas Juncus patens ‘Carman’s Grey’ has bright green foliage with a weeping habit.
