Leptospermums "Tea Trees" of Australia and New Zealand
Leptospermums are often showcased for their unique foliage, showy blooms, and dramatic branching and truck formations. Species such as Leptospermum rotundifolium bring bold forms and textures to the garden as well as spectacular floral displays. Mature specimens of L. laevigatum often develop gnarled and twisted trunks that add character to any garden. In general, Tea Trees can be used as accent plants, for mass plantings, and for screening purposes. The vivid and long-lasting flowers of Leptospermums can be used in cut flower arrangements and are in fact used frequently in the cut flower trade. Most Leptospermums can tolerate a wide range of garden conditions although most require well drained soil. With the exception of a few species, all Tea Trees are native to Australia. At El Nativo Growers, Inc. we grow a wide variety of Australian and New Zealand Tea Trees. The links below will provide you with the information you need to determine which Leptospermum will work best for your project. We will be continually updating this page so please check back for additions.
